Academy Awards night

This is my youngest son. He is rather pleased with himself or should I say with his new purchase...a hat! His school year level have just finished a unit of work on film making. Each group had to come up with an idea for a script, construct it, make props, design costumes and film and edit the video. After the holidays, we are all attending an 'Academy Awards' night to watch the finished products. The children (and adults) have to dress up for the red carpet arrivals and I believe awards are being presented on the night. They even had to write an acceptance speech as part of their homework! Anyway, I will no doubt post some photos of the night so keep your eye on this space!

A card for Anne

My good friend Anne has recently suffered an unexpected health scare. I thought it would be nice to send her a lovely card with some gorgeous flowers to help her recover and let her know that we were thinking of her.....as the mental side to recovery is just as important as the physical side. I made this at my lovely friend Debbie's last Monday when we got together for a Stamp Club with Deb and Carolann . It was nice to bounce ideas off each other and to discover new techniques from Debbie. The card is made with Baja Breeze CS and the tree is from Thoughts and Prayers stampin' Up! stamps.

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #34 "Oceans 11"

It has been far too long since my last post. What can I say? Other things have occupied my time...some fun, others not. But I still head over to see the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge that Sankari and Brooke put up each week. For those in Australia, the sneak peeks come online Late Friday night...so sometimes I stay up! Ok I usually stay up because I can't resist a challenge to guess a film from teeny tiny slivers of images that the girls let us see :)

This week Brad Pitt's eye in the last peek was unmistakeable. Using brads in the challenge is a must but unfortunately I could only squeeze one in!! It is on one of the roulette wheels. I took my inspiration from the DVD cover which has a great background full over bright circles.

I'm quite pleased with the way it's turned out and thought I could use it as a gift card with a lottery ticket in.

Easter Fun

We have just begun term 1 holidays and before we finished last Friday, the Easter Bunny hopped on by (our class window) to say hello!! The children were absolutely in awe and soooo excited...if you could have seen their faces it was priceless. He also left some eggs outside, so the children had fun collecting them and of course consuming some!!
Hope you like the photo!!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #26 - My Fair Lady

This is my first attempt at a card for this week's challenge. I had it pictured in my mind but it didn't quite turn out the way I'd wanted....but I'm off for a stamping and card making day with Carolann and a few other friends tomorrow so I may add another one!!
I always love Audrey Hepburn in that lovely white dress. She displays such elegance and poise and I though it would be a good basis for a wedding card or something similar.
We had to emboss in some form this week and I ended up using a rub-on sentiment and lots of rhinestones...perhaps no traditional embossing but I felt the card needed to be simple and I was also reluctant to use the same wheel/stamp that Brooke had used in her gorgeous creation.
Anyway, fingers crossed that our creative vibes are working tomorrow and we may come up with some more cards!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #25 - Goldfinger

This is my second attempt at making a card for Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge. I love waiting to see the sneak peeks and guessing what movie it will be and have even roped in my dear friend Carolann (http://blackcatsmiaow.blogspot.com/ ) to do the same each week!! This week she was pretty close to the mark with her guesses and hopefully she'll make a card too...hint hint Carolann!

Having a house full of males, Bond films are part of our movie library and my husband really enjoys the action and the odd pretty woman that they provide...I must say that most of the lead actors who have played Bond are pretty good eye candy too for me....a personal favourite is definitely Mr Connery.

My card has a definite British flavour. I have embossed using gold and using a stampin' up wheel. The little Union Jack flag, London bus, Underground sign and London sign make it a fun card I think. Perhaps no 007 in sight but a bit of his heritage!!

The photo was taken outside by the pool on a sunny Melbourne day, so the gold really pops!

There is also the chance to win some blog candy this week as the girls are celebrating their 25th challenge...congrats ladies! Here's what is written on the site....

As a big thank you to all of you - we would like to include our Audrey recipient this week with this beautiful stamp set called BRANCHING OUT from Taylored Expressions. This set is normally $21.95 but can be yours for playing along this week (open to all international players!!!) !!! Please mention this blog candy on your blog! Its really such an amazing stamp set (Its my favorite!)!!!
2. AND that's not all, all players will be eligible to win the Prudence Paper Collection kit for just entering your card! After the deadline is over, I will use Random.com to help me pick one random winner for this awesome set of papers from Taylored Expressions!!!

Card for a friend

This is another card that I made this afternoon for my friend Liz's birthday. I think she'll like it!

This is my first attempt at making a card for any challenge but as "Singin' in the Rain" is such a good movie I gave it a go. I love the song 'Moses toes are roses' that Donald O'Connor sings - it's such a great play on words and a lot of fun.

Something to see!

Thought that there would be no point in having a blog if I didn't put something on it!! I recently attended a class run by my good friend Debbie Pamment, who is an Independent Stampin' Up demonstrator (Debbie P's Place) . This was one of my attempts at card making that night...the other has been sent off with a parcel of goodies for a new born baby. I love the choc chip card with the pinks....

New Blog......

Time to start getting with the times......hopefully it won't be too taxing on my little grey cells!!! Fingers crossed xxxxx
